Linwood Barclay never lets you down. Every parent's nightmare, a child who's simply disappeared and a father who won't give up. A fabulous page-turner and an ending that will come out of nowhere.
It's a real page turner with lots of twists and turns but I didn't like the protagonist. Tim Blake is such a solipsistic retard cuck he'd be right at home at 24 Sussex drive.
I have read everything this library carries by Linwood Barclay. He never, ever fails to disappoint me. My problem is trying to put the books down to get on with my chores and errands! If you enjoy Mr. Barclay's books, do try out Harlan Coben's books, in the same genre and tone, they are excellent, too.
Another fast paced thriller from Canadian Barclay - he never disappoints. His stories feature average people caught up in unusual circumstances that force them out of their day to day life into a fight for their life.
Here a daughter goes missing, her workplace has never heard of her, the police get nowhere and Dad gets drawn ever deeper into a complex web to find her.
No super heroes or fantastic special agents or world ending plots but ordinary people forced by circumstance to do extraordinary things.
I just completed this book and even though it was fast paced, it was rather far-fetched. Sometimes, less is more. First time reading this Canadian author and will try another of his books as I love to support our Canadian writers.
This is a very enjoyable read. Lots of plot with twists and turns until the end - also good character development. I will definitely read more by this author.
I had to read this book for book club at school, and i found it amazing. It is a really good mystery and it leaves you on the edge of your seats at each chapter. I think they should make a movie for this book, i woulddefinatly watch it. I am usually not a huge fan of mystery books but after reading this one i have read some great mysterys such as 'Then There Were None',another one is 'the next accident' I would suggest any one who likes mystery to read any of these books. Enjoy!
Plot is strong up until the last third of the book, where my two complaints pop up:
1. a twist near the end that feels like Barclay pulled it out of his rear.
2. After the chaos throughout the story, which results in numerous deaths and property destruction, the book just...ends, with no real sense of closure.
I am a huge fan of Linwood Barclay, but this is the weakest of his thrillers.
A little slow starting but once you you get into it there is a lot of twists. Keeps you guessing right to the end.
I couldn't put this book down! It was very suspenseful and kept me hooked until the end! I will definitely be checking out more Barclay books :)
Fear The Worst has been by far my favourite book!! i recommend it for a great and exciting read!!
I really like this book!! It was a great mystery and i didnt expect the ending at all!!!
I really enjoyed this book !!! I couldnt put it down, id read it for hours. It is suspensful and action packed. This book by far has been my favourite!
I really enjoyed this book. Before starting, I did what one should never do and judged it by it's cover. After reading this book i realized my initial aversion was a mistake on my part. this was an AMAZING read
I really enjoyed this book. By far, one of my favourites. Though it did remind me of a movie or tv show, not too sure. Awesome story line and I'm glad there was a book that didn't have a romance thing in it.
Awesome story! Super suspenseful, I couldn't stop turning the pages! The ending is really good, you don't expect it. Read this one!!!
This book was definitely for older students. It was written well and kept my interest through the entire thing. I was guessing the ending the entire time.
Excellent.....hard trouble putting it down.....first Barclay book I have read but I will be reading others.
A fast beach read. Watch for the author at this year's Word on the Street in Toronto, and Eden Mills Writers' Festival in Eden Mills!
Linwood Barclay keeps me reading eagerly, as things happen one right after another, but realistic? Nah, but a great vacation read.
A good page turner, suspenseful with a couple of unexpected twists.
A real page-turner. I've been a big Linwood Barclay fan since his days of writing for the Star. I missed him when he quit writing his column, but his books more than make up for it.
