If you wish to see man's inhumanity, please watch this documentary. Russian fighter jets bombing civilian neighborhoods. There are no army bases, etc. in that area. The bombings were just cruel, sadistic acts.

Heartbreaking. Surreal. An apocalyptic reality in the here and now, people struggling just to survive, with whatever shreds of dignity and sanity they can muster, knowing there's no escape, no refuge, to be found anywhere.

This statement from the filmmaker really sums up the underlying message of this documentary for me:
"This film is a story about hope, and it is an attempt to study our human roots, our affiliations and our collective tasks in situations that require us to take control of our lives when faced with a mindless, irrational killer. It is a tool for understanding forgiveness and overcoming vengeance. I can see this when our heroes save all the victims, even those who caused their deaths. It is also a tool in the search for the meaning of life, as it inspires you to look closely at your own gift of life so that another can live. Hopefully the film can become an opportunity for The White Helmets to become acknowledged in the world and thus give them the attention that they deserve. Covering their efforts will also give us the opportunity to portray the Syrian civil war, in the hope that it can motivate people and make them take action to stop this ongoing tragedy and thus make an effort to create peace in Syria, or at least help the people who are asking for help. War brings out the worst in human beings, but it also brings out the best in us. The White Helmets are indeed a living example of that."

Unimaginable devastation and suffering. Deserved whatever awards this film was awarded.

Anti-Assad propaganda re White Helmets who pull victims from rubble in Syria. Shows only a few minutes of rescue work. Mostly staged, scripted conversations where fat protagonists artificially recite indictments of Assad and complain that he is starving them.
--- For decades, Israel sought to wreck Iraq and Syria. Israeli memos in the 1990s proposed fomenting strife among Muslim sects. In 1996, US Defense Dept Zionist Richard Perle and colleagues urged Netanyahu to pit Muslim states against one another, to bring down Syria and Saddam Hussein (memo "A Clean Break: A New Strategy For Securing The Realm" ie Israel).
--- US policy follows Israel's. We also want to oust Russia from its Mediterranean base. Our leaders accept the destruction of Syria which these goals entail.
--- To topple Assad, Obama condoned ISIS and armed al Qa'ida-linked jihadists. When ISIS captured parts of Iraq, Obama sought merely to push the terrorists back into Syria. But when Russia and Iran intervened (legally by invitation), we had to quit pretending and really oppose ISIS.
--- The US and Israel are actively bombing Syria now, and trying to stop oil supplies, to help jihadists tear up the country; then Israel will probably seize the southern portion. Israeli munitions turn up in captured Jihadist camps. Our actions have flooded Europe with refugees.
--- The film does not criticize ISIS or al-Nusra Front, just Assad and Russia. No coverage of Syrians who support Assad, as most do. Assad is a mild-mannered, Westernized physician who celebrates Christmas with Syrian Christians -- not the "brutal dictator" of US/Zionist smears. Having killed millions with cluster bombs, Agent Orange, napalm and nukes, we sanctimoniously blame Assad for killing hundreds with chlorine gas -- and that too is probably a lie. Compare the non-existent incubator babies and WMD our leaders invented to justify their 1991 and 2003 wars on Iraq.
--- The White Helmets are heavily funded by Western governments; they are not "ordinary citizen" volunteers. Some of the many millions they get likely go jihadists. White Helmets have been caught filming phony casualty scenes; their leaders blame this on renegade individuals. White Helmet sponsors claim that embarrassing revelations are "Russian disinformation". Israel has evacuated White Helmets from areas recaptured by Syrian government, showing the close collaboration.
--- No one was "trapped in Aleppo"; Assad offered amnesty years ago. For an objective report, see my comment to film INSIDE ASSAD'S SYRIA.

Recommend, for historical value of war documentaries...and to gain a heart for the people there in the midst of the atrocities.

Use discernment when watching this film. Research the White Helmets. This film is a propaganda piece. Here is a review by a user on IMDB which sums this film up nicely:

"Daily reminder that white helmets are an al-qaeda-run propaganda operation. Every movie that whitewashes crimes of foreign funded terrorist groups deserves a 1/10, ez. I wish total victory to the syrian nation and quick demise to all supporters of islamism and globalism including some mediocre scandi film directors."

There is lots of evidence that the White Hats stage their "rescue" videos. Their "gassing" of children videos are diabolically staged with drugged and/or dead kids with people performing "medical" procedures on them who obviously don't know what they are doing. I have only watched the trailer, but I can tell already from the guy who "playfully" throws a child up in the air a little too high, that he doesn't have that much sensitivity to children's well-being. (Thank God he caught him.)
