This is a great film for all ages. Well written, acted and Special effects. All around a good film

This movie was a great family movie. My primary school-aged kids loved the suspense, adventure and humor. They looked past the impossible scenarios that we as adults pick up on and followed the story in all its silliness and fun. Worth watching as a family.

Definitely reminiscent of late 60s and 70s children's movies. The animal effects were good. I love Robert Downey---this wasn't his best acting but it was an okay movie---especially for a younger audience.

Reading the comments bellow before I checked out the movie, I was expecting it to be stupid and chocked full of crude humor. But the movie was actually quite the contrary. Yes, it was obviously made for children, with a predictable plot and lot's of colorful action. But there were only about three references to bodily humor, and the squirrel (bent on revenge after being shot) had my whole family laughing on several occasions. Yes, Robert Downey Junior was doing something weird with his voice, a mumbled Scottish accent that half the time sounded almost French, but overall he did a very good job of playing the eccentric Doolittle. Yes, the animation was not that great of quality, but the audience it is intended for won't mind. My sister and I had a fun time trying to figure out which famous actor (there were quite a few) corresponded to which animal. All the characters were memorable (stick bug, Ostridge, parrot, dragonfly, dragon, whale, and more) ; kids will be laughing at the animal relationships and it emphasized the importance of conservation in a way they can grasp. Overall, I found the movie to be entertaining, and a good one the whole family can enjoy.

Robert Downey Jr. is pretty entertaining in whatever movie he finds himself in, and he was probably the best part of this movie. I think it had a lot of potential, with lovely settings and some high caliber actors lending their talents both in person and voicing the animals. Unfortunately it ended up being a loud, chaotic mess. I just don't understand why people seem to think kids' movies have to be packed to the gills with noise and pointless action. There were a few good jokes mixed in where I laughed out loud but overall I found it disappointing.

This movie was boring and ridiculous. I don't know what Robert Downey Jr was doing with his voice, but it was weird and annoying. Kids might enjoy the talking animals and the body function jokes (especially with the dragon towards the end), but as an adult I found it tedious and annoying.

When Dr. Dolittle came out in 1998 (22-years-ago) Starring EDDIE MURPHY (as John Dolittle), it was hilarious (extremely funny) seeing an Animal Doctor talking to animals, for the first time.
This re-adaptation of 2020 DVD movie "DOLITTLE", starring ROBERT DOWNEY, Jr. (IS NOT FUNNY AT ALL). The main character never really talks to the animals (The Animals do most of the talking) [1.anxious gorilla, 2.enthusiastic duck, 3.cynical ostrich, 4.upbeat polar bear, 5.headstrong parrot and the squirrel who wanted revenge on the apprentice who shot the squirrel in the stomach].
The original Dr. Dolittle was an AMERICAN MADE MOVIE by 20th Century Fox [ Box Office Sales (Gross USA was $144.2M) ]. This 2020 version "ENGLAND (U.K.) MADE MOVIE" by Universal Pictures [Box Office (Gross USA) only $77.0M] "Nearly less than 1/2 as many individuals, went to the Movie Theaters to watch Newest version".
In this rendition: Supposely, ROBERT DOWNEY, Jr. (as Dolittle) was to cure the QUEEN OF ENGLAND from being poisoned; a very reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure.
But ROBERT DOWNEY, Jr. *never does anything*. The doctor is joined by a young, self-appointed apprentice
(Harry Collett) - who does most of the work; curing the Queen of England from the poision she was given by one of the guards.
I enjoyed seeing the "Fire-Breathing-Dragon", that it swallowed a BAGPIPE and had a tummy-ache.
And, when Dr. Dolittle removed that instrument from her stomach, it shows a large gust of wind, as it was being dislodged.
For some reason - ACTUAL MOVIE CRITICS "DID NOT LIKE THIS 2020 version" either; but the audience viewers thought it was better then the critics (with 76% likeability).
[In my opinion] - I did not like (did not enjoy) most of this 1hr 41min DVD movie [ as agreed upon with ...

"Overall, I saw this movie with my mom and we had a good time. She loves RDJ and I really like him as well and he’s always fun to watch. We laughed a lot together and I think there is a lot to like about it. It’s bright, it has a beautiful look to it, the CGI animation is really good for the most part on the animals, except that dragon. I didn’t think that was as good as it could have been..." copy and paste the link below for the rest of the review!

What a waste of RBJ's talents. This might entertain kids but quite a bit of a disappointment. Storyline was not good, animation not realistic, and so on. The characters were all unconvincing. Looks like poor directing. I skipped to the end after about 20 minutes just to close the loop. A real let down.

😿 You have to admire Hollywood's persistence. They keep trying to make Dr. Dolittle movies. In the books, Dr. D. never has any cats.
